Downgrade — pay for the workflow, not the AI

The backstory
Xata offers Postgres with instant copy-on-write branches, so a developer or a CI job can get a full-size database copy in seconds. It originally sold a friendlier data layer on top of Postgres and later refocused on branching at scale. As Copilot and other assistants write schemas and queries competently, a nicer API surface stops being a reason to choose a provider. Branching for agent-driven workflows is a genuinely useful niche, but it sits in a crowded Postgres market.
