The backstory
Wix is a mass-market website builder used by millions of small businesses to get online without code. AI website generators threatened to make the drag-and-drop builder obsolete, so Wix shipped its own AI site builder to meet them head-on. It survived because it owns the boring, essential parts AI doesn't replace: hosting, domains, email, payments, e-commerce and the ongoing infrastructure a live business site needs. An AI can generate a page; Wix keeps that page online, sells through it and handles the plumbing behind it.
