The backstory
Windmill takes an ordinary Python or TypeScript script and gives it a UI, a schedule, permissions and an API endpoint, which is the fastest route from a useful script to something the rest of the company can run. It competes with visual automation tools by being code-first, which suits engineers who find drag-and-drop builders limiting. Agents writing internal tools is the ambient threat, and the generated tool still needs somewhere governed to run.
