The backstory
Upstash fits the AI stack almost too neatly: rate-limit the expensive endpoint, cache the completions, queue the jobs, store the embeddings, and pay per request instead of per hour. Generated apps in particular need rate limiting on day one, and this is the least-effort way to get it.
