NOT REALLY
why this verdict
Keep it — OpenAI has not replaced it
OpenAI's version overlaps, but does not finish the automation job, so this one is still worth keeping open.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Voice agent platforms abstracting telephony away from the developer entirely. OpenAI, October 1, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? paid only
- 3 replacements listed, all paid.
- What the call is worth nothing to cancel
- No paid entry tier tracked, so there is no subscription to cancel.

The backstory
Telnyx differentiates by owning its network rather than reselling carrier capacity, which yields lower latency and better per-minute economics than the incumbent. That latency advantage became the whole pitch when AI voice agents arrived, since a conversational agent lives or dies on round-trip time. Telnyx pushed further by putting inference on the same network, so the model and the call ride together, a vertically integrated bet the API-only competitors cannot easily copy.
