SigNoz
Open-source observability with traces, metrics and logs in one OpenTelemetry-native tool.
why this verdict
Keep paying — Anthropic has not replaced it
Anthropic's version overlaps, but does not finish the dev tools job, so this one still earns its $49/mo.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Datadog and Grafana Cloud bundling observability at prices that squeeze open-source challengers. Anthropic, September 9, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 2 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: Grafana and Highlight.
- What the call is worth $588/yr

The backstory
SigNoz is the open-source alternative to Datadog, built OpenTelemetry-native from the start so there is no proprietary agent and no lock-in, with everything in ClickHouse underneath. Its wedge is entirely economic: observability bills are famously the second-largest line in many engineering budgets, and self-hosting removes the per-host pricing that makes them grow faster than the infrastructure they monitor. That argument gets stronger as telemetry volume rises.
