The backstory
Raycast is a Mac launcher that replaces Spotlight with fast commands, clipboard history, snippets and an extension store. Native OS assistants threaten launchers, but Raycast turned the threat into a feature by becoming an AI distribution point itself: instant access to models from a hotkey, plus AI commands woven through its workflows. It survived because it is a genuinely better launcher first, with AI as a bonus rather than the whole pitch.
