PowerSync
Offline-first sync between Postgres, MongoDB or MySQL and SQLite on the device.
why this verdict
Keep paying — Google has not replaced it
Google's version overlaps, but does not finish the dev tools job, so this one still earns its $49/mo.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Firebase and Supabase offering offline persistence as an included platform feature. Google, November 4, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 3 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: Electric, Firebase and WatermelonDB.
- What the call is worth $588/yr

The backstory
PowerSync keeps a SQLite database on the device continuously reconciled with a server database, so an app works on a plane and resolves conflicts on landing. Firebase gives offline support away, which caps the low end. PowerSync wins where the system of record is an existing Postgres or MongoDB that is not going to be replaced, in field service, logistics and healthcare, and that constraint is common enough and unglamorous enough to be defensible.
