The backstory
PagerDuty owns the moment an alert becomes a human problem: rotations, escalation policies and the audit trail enterprises need. The threat is that AI incident response tools increasingly resolve the class of alert that used to justify waking someone, and newer challengers bundle scheduling free alongside AI triage. PagerDuty is defended by compliance requirements and by being wired into every runbook a large company owns, but its per-seat pricing looks harder to justify each time the robot fixes it first.
