The backstory
Novu is the open-source entry in notification infrastructure, offering the workflow engine, preference centre and embeddable inbox as code a team can host itself. Being self-hostable is the durable advantage in a category where the alternative is either writing it yourself or paying per notification forever. The AI angle cuts in its favour too: agent-generated activity multiplies notification volume, and per-message pricing gets uncomfortable at exactly the point self-hosting starts to look sensible.
