Notion
The workspace itself, separate from its AI add-on.
why this verdict
Keep paying — Anthropic has not replaced it
Anthropic's version overlaps, but does not finish the productivity job, so this one still earns its $10/mo.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Claude Projects and AI docs. Anthropic, August 20, 2024 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers not the job editorial call
- Parts of it. The job still needs the tool to get finished.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 3 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: Coda, Obsidian and ClickUp.
- What the call is worth $120/yr

The backstory
Notion is the workspace teams live in: docs, wikis, databases, and projects all linked together, with Notion AI sold as a $10/seat upsell. Claude Projects and long-context chat can do the raw reasoning and drafting, which pressures the AI button but not the workspace itself. Notion survived because the moat is the structured, shared workspace a company has already built, not the model behind the AI feature, which is a commodity add-on.
