The backstory
Medusa is the open-source answer to Shopify for teams whose commerce requirements do not fit a template: complex B2B pricing, unusual fulfilment, or a storefront that is really an application. AI store builders make simple shops trivial, which removes the customers Medusa never wanted. Coding agents cut the other way in its favour, since the historic objection to headless commerce was development cost, and that cost fell faster than the platform fees it avoids.
