The backstory
Khan Academy is a non-profit offering free lessons, exercises, and practice across subjects for millions of learners. ChatGPT can act as a personal tutor, which would threaten a paid course business, but Khan was already free so there was no subscription for AI to undercut. It survived by partnering with OpenAI to build Khanmigo, its own guided AI tutor, folding the threat into its mission instead of fighting it.
