The backstory
Kaedim sold 2D-to-3D conversion to game studios, with human artists cleaning up the output to hit production standards, a hybrid it was publicly criticised for underdisclosing. The economics have moved against it hard: open image-to-3D models produce game-ready meshes for cents, and studios that need artist cleanup increasingly run that step in-house. The remaining value is a managed pipeline with quality guarantees, which is a services business rather than the software one it was funded as.
