The backstory
IFTTT connects consumer apps with simple if-this-then-that applets, like save a photo to Dropbox or log a workout. That trigger-action pattern is the easiest thing for an AI assistant to absorb: tell it what you want and it can chain the same actions natively. It's wounded because the simplest automations are exactly what agents replicate first, though IFTTT's long tail of pre-built integrations with smart-home and niche devices still does things a general assistant hasn't wired up yet.
