The backstory
Gem gives recruiters a CRM layer on top of their ATS: multi-channel outreach sequences, candidate rediscovery, and sourcing analytics that most ATS products never built well. LinkedIn, which supplies the candidate data Gem's sourcing depends on, keeps expanding Recruiter's own AI matching and messaging tools, narrowing the gap that justified paying separately for a sourcing CRM. Gem still wins on cross-platform outreach and analytics that LinkedIn has no incentive to build, but its moat is thinner than a system of record like an ATS.
