The backstory
Deepnote brought Google Docs-style collaboration to data notebooks, with scheduled runs and shareable dashboards, which was genuinely better than emailing an ipynb file around. The pressure is that everyone else added the same features from a stronger position: Colab is free and attached to Google, Databricks owns the enterprise data platform, and Hex focused hard on the analytics team workflow. Being the pleasant independent option is a difficult place to be funded.
