The backstory
D-ID turns a single photo into a talking-head video, animating a face to speak any script for avatars and presenters. That trick, once novel, is now widely available: Sora and a wave of avatar and lip-sync models generate talking presenters and full scenes from text. D-ID is wounded because its signature capability has become a commodity feature offered by many tools and big AI labs. It retains an enterprise API and avatar-studio workflow, but the core magic no longer needs a dedicated product.
