The backstory
Artbreeder was genuinely ahead of its time, letting people create characters and landscapes by mixing images and dragging sliders through a GAN's latent space years before text-to-image existed. That interface only made sense while describing an image was impossible. Once a sentence produced a better result instantly, breeding images by hand became a curiosity, and the community that made the site special largely moved on to the tools that replaced the metaphor.
