why this verdict
Downgrade — pay for the workflow, not the AI
Snyk and Socket cover the headline feature free, so the $350/mo is now paying for the workflow around it.
- A named launch, not a vibe named, unlinked
- Codex-style agents triaging and patching dependency CVEs inside the repository. OpenAI, May 16, 2025 — no announcement link recorded yet.
- How much of the job it covers headline only editorial call
- The headline feature, but not the workflow, data or integrations around it.
- Is there a free way to do it? yes
- 3 of 3 listed replacements have a usable free tier: Snyk, Socket and Semgrep.

The backstory
Aikido pulls a stack of scanners into one dashboard and filters the noise so small teams get a short list instead of thousands of findings. Noise reduction and auto-fix pull requests are its selling points, and both are exactly what a coding agent does well once pointed at a repository. Codex-class agents can read an advisory, judge reachability and open the upgrade PR. Aikido still consolidates compliance evidence and cloud posture in one place, which agents do not, so it survives in reduced form.
