The backstory
Lightroom is the photographer's darkroom: non-destructive raw editing, a catalogue that keeps every version and edit history, and a colour pipeline pros have built muscle memory around. One-tap AI enhancement from OpenAI and phone cameras can make a snapshot pop, but it doesn't touch raw files, keyword libraries, or batch workflows across thousands of shots. Lightroom survived because the moat is the catalogue and the workflow, not the enhance slider, and Adobe just folded generative tools in as another panel.
