About the list

Every week, a major AI company ships a native feature that quietly replaces a tool someone was paying for. A paraphraser here. A meeting recap there. A "chat with your PDF" button that used to be a $5/mo subscription.

TheDeathOfSaaS is a running casualty list. For each tracked tool we ask one question — did AI just make this obsolete? — and give it a verdict:

• KILLED A native feature replaced the core job. The subscription is hard to justify.
• WOUNDED The headline capability got commoditized, but the product still holds value in the margins.
• SURVIVED The AI came for it and missed — the workflow, data, taste, or trust held.

It's slightly irreverent on purpose. But the verdicts try to be fair: plenty of tools survive AI feature creep because a model call was never the real moat.
